‘Venom’ Writer Thinks Fans Should Want Keanu Reeves As Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi

It seems the comic writer behind such titles like Venom and Guardians of the Galaxy thinks that fans should want Keanu Reeves in Marvel Studios’ next film Shang-Chi.

The writer in question was Donny Cates who is behind such Marvel titles as the ongoing Venom series, Guardians of the Galaxy and many more. In a recently deleted Tweet, he stated that fans would want him in the upcoming Marvel Studio’ film after spending four hours in a room with the breaking story. He did not, however, go into any details as to why.

You can see a screenshot of the now deleted Tweet from the Venom writer below:

What do you all make of this idea? Is the Venom writer right? Would you like to see Keanu Reeves in a Marvel Studios role as Shang-Chi? Would it create too many issues? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist who was raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by Dave Callaham, Shang-Chi will reportedly modernize the source material in order to avoid the character stereotypes of the time. The Marvel Studios film currently does not have a release date

Keanu Reeves latest film, John Wick: Chapter 3, is now in theaters everywhere.

Venom is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD.
