‘Captain America: Civil War’ VFX Video Provides New Look At Wakanda

VFX video from Imagine Engine gives us a new look at Black Panther's homeland of Wakanda as it appears in 'Captain America: Civil War'.

Although we’ll get to see more of T’Challa’s homeland of Wakanda, a fictional nation in Africa, in the Black Panther movie, we did get to see a glimpse of it in the end credits of Captain America: Civil War.

Imagine Engine, a visual effects and animation studio based in Vancouver, released a video detailing the VFX used to bring Wakanda, its jungle, and its black panther statue.

Visual effects supervisor Robin Hackl explains how the team created the statue and how they made it out to look like it was made of vibranium, a fictional material that is also used for Black Panther’s suit.

“If you go too polished and too refined for a sculpture it diminishes its scale. Our lead lookdev artist Adrien Flanquart was responsible for a huge component of this shot. He established the shading characteristics and the scale of the cracks and displacements of the panther, illustrating that this sculpture was in fact 500 feet tall, not just 40 feet tall.”

The VFX video even explains how they created the mist and fog, as well as the cliffs and trees. You can check out the video below!

Captain America: Civil War is now on Blu-Ray/DVD and the highly-anticipated Black Panther, which stars Chadwick Boseman as the titular hero, will hits theaters February 16, 2018.
