Lightsabers make every movie cooler, don’t they? The folks over at the YouTube channel ImmersionVFX believe as much. They decided a certain climatic battle between Vin Diesel and Jason Statham in Fast & Furious 7 wasn’t awesome enough in James Wan’s film, so they spiced things up by putting some lightsabers in the equation. Their results can be seen below.
If you can forgive the fact that Statham and Diesel are getting beaten with lightsabers with nary a scratch on their muscular figures, this is a pretty nifty little fan video. It won’t stop world hunger. It would start a revolution. But it’s fun, it’s enjoyable, it’s well-edited and it’s clearly made from a place of pure love and fandom for two separate film franchises. Sometimes, that’s all you need, right?
All in all, it’s short and sweet, and pretty cool to boot. If you’re looking for something simple and appealing to get your mind off of things, you can certainly do worse.
In the meantime, while Diesel and Shatham fight for pretend in the movies, there’s reportedly some real-life, behind-the-scenes feuding going on between Diesel and his other Fast & Furious co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, on the set of the Fast & Furious 8. Should we expect a fake lightsaber fight between them in the future? One can only hope, right? Speaking of which, the new sequel hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
