What may look like just another day for Vin Diesel about to hit the gym, is actually our first look at him as Ray Garrison in the upcoming Valiant Comics adaptation of Bloodshot, which was created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992. Garrison is a specially skilled soldier who is resurrected by way of highly-advanced nanotechnology by a weapons contractor.
The film is meant to kick off a cinematic universe based on the popular Valiant Comics, which boasts the third-largest universe of comics behind the Big Two in Marvel and DC. So far there are good reasons to get excited for Bloodshot. For one, Sony has gone on the record as describing the film as an R-rated adaptation that will:
“be tonally and aesthetically influenced by high-concept sci-fi blockbusters of the late 80s.”
What’s more is that the script has been penned by Oscar-nominated writer Eric Heisserer, who wrote Arrival and the more recent Bird Box for Netflix. Dave Wilson is directing.
