Down to finally getting the white in the third season of Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio has embodied a lot of what fans remember from comic book Kingpin, as well as his utilization in the 1994 animated Spider-Man series. For many, he is Kingpin. But as is often the case, actors aren’t strictly tied down to just one role and are free to jump from one universe to the other. As such, who would Vincent D’Onofrio want to play if he were part of, say, the DC Extended universe? Maybe Lex Luthor?
It’s a hypothetical, of course, since Jesse Eisenberg is currently in the role and even appeared as recently as last year’s Justice League in a post-credits scene with Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, but one Twitter user happened to ask Vincent D’Onofrio what other character in Daredevil besides Wilson Fisk would he want to play…which in and of itself is an odd question because while there have been actors who have played more than one character between the MCU films and Netflix shows, that hasn’t been the case for the shows specifically. So how does Lex Luthor fit into this?
Well, D’Onofrio responded that he wouldn’t play another character in Daredevil. Rather, he’d jump over to the world of DC and play Lex Luthor. Here, see for yourself:
Again, all a hypothetical since there’s currently a Lex Luthor, but hey, remember that we’ll soon be getting Lex Luthor on Supergirl. But then it’d be a pretty hard pill to swallow if D’Onofrio’s Lex Luthor on Supergirl remained imprisoned with his physicality and smarts. Or perhaps down the line when these cinematic universes are inevitably rebooted, D’Onofrio could jump into the role. Who can say? But what do you think about the Vincent D’Onofrio jumping from Daredevil to wanting to play Lex Luthor in the DC Universe? Let us know your thoughts below.
Meanwhile, you can see D’Onofrio in all his Kingpin glory in the third season of Daredevil, now available on Netflix.
