Vincent D’Onofrio Teases Kingpin’s Return In Response To ‘Daredevil’ Cancelation

Wilson Fisk himself, Vincent D’Onofrio has responded to the news of the cancelation of Marvel’s Daredevil at Netflix.

Netflix officially canceled the hit superhero series last night, a little over one month after the series’ critically acclaimed third season made its debut. While both Marvel and Netflix have both released statements which could allude to the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen living on in some form or another, the series no longer has a home on the streaming service.

D’Onofrio who stars in the series as the iconic villain Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin took to Twitter to respond to the news, teasing the return of his character. You can check it out below.

Although Netflix does not release metrics for its viewership ratings, the official statement from the streaming service on the cancelation of Daredevil clarified that the reason to end the series was to close it out on a “high note.” Data previously released by Crimson Hexagon, a consumer-insights firm, revealed the social media engagement for Marvel’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage dropped significantly since each series debuted. Both Iron Fist and Luke Cage were canceled after their respective second seasons in October.

With Disney readying to launch its very own streaming service, Disney+, the future of the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is uncertain. However, the third season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and a second season of The Punisher are currently in the works.

Daredevil Season 3 stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, and Lesley Ann Warren.

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Daredevil Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
