Vincent D'Onofrio recently cleared up whether his successfully portrayed character of Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, will appear on the big screen.
With Marvel’s main criticism’s coming in the form of lackluster movie villains, some fans are thinking the studio might be tempted to let D’Onforio’s Kingpin make the jump to the big screen. The talk was always there after the character debuted so successfully, but it’s present now more than ever with the arrival of a certain web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which makes sense. After all, Kingpin did, of course, make his comic debut in a Spider-Man comic, so it seems fairly logical that if Fisk was going to be put into a movie, it would be a Spider-Man one.
Well, it looks like we can stop the theorising as D’Onofrio took the time to answer some questions on Twitter recently, within which he cleared up this exact issue. When asked whether Wilson Fisk could appear in either The Defenders, Spider-Man: Homecoming, or an MCU movie in general, he had some pretty straight forward responses:
It seems the more logical answer at this point would be to keep Wilson Fisk battling with Daredevil on Netflix. Not only are the movies overflowing with potential characters as it is, but Kingpin’s character has been built on-screen within a much more dark, violent and real world compared to what we’re used to seeing with Marvel’s movies, which may leave him looking out of place on the big screen.
Marvel’s Defenders hits Netflix, without Vincent D’Onofrio, in 2017.
