At WonderCon 2017, the 'Voltron: Legendary Defender' executive producers confirmed that the show will be back on Netflix for a third season.
A modern-day continuation of popular 80s series, Voltron: Legendary Defender has been well-received, and at WonderCon, co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery took a moment to thank the fans for their support, saying she’s “grateful that fans of the original have been open and accepting of Voltron: Legendary Defender.”
Also at the Con, the group teased a Prince Lotor reveal in a special April Fools video, which showed the character flip his luscious locks aside to reveal he had a cow face. Despite the joke, it was indeed revealed that Lotor will be appearing in season 3. You can check out the prank below.
As for details on season 3? Den of Geek is reporting that 13 new episodes will arrive September 2017. They also say that:
It was also revealed that the series has a 78-episode commitment from Netflix. If you count the premiere “movie” as three episodes, that means that Voltron is guaranteed to run at least a full six seasons on Netlifx.
Whatever the case may be, the success of Voltron: Legendary Defender and its season 3 renewal paint a hopeful picture for the animated series. Besides, given the events of season 2, there’s still a lot left to explore in season 3. In particular, what happened to Shiro and how will the team react and adapt to the mysterious disappearance of their leader? Looks like we’ll find out later this year.
Voltron: Legendary Defender features the voice talent of Josh Keaton as Shiro, Tyler Labine as Hunk, Jeremy Shada as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Steven Yeun as Keith, Kimberly Brooks as Princess Allura, and Rhys Darby as Coran.
