'The Walking Dead' star Andrew Lincoln shares his excitement over the 8th season of the show and the 100th episode of the series.
While most of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season was a grueling ordeal for the character’s, the year concluded with a massive victory for Rick and the Alexandrian’s as several communities finally came together to win the first battle against Negan and the Saviors. While the confrontation was merely the first battle in what will become an all-out war, it was a much needed win for the demoralized group, who have finally rallied enough allies to stand a fighting chance against the Saviors. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series lead Andrew Lincoln shared his excitement for the eighth season of the show, which will kick-off with the 100th episode of the series.
Lincoln expressed his excitement over the upcoming season.
“This is not hyperbole. This is not a cynical act to try and amp up enthusiasm for the hundredth episode in season 8, but I am genuinely more excited about this next episode and the following 15 than I’ve ever been in my life. I can’t wait to get back.”
Lincoln addressed the criticisms towards the show for abandoning characters for long stretches of time and slowly bringing new communities together.
“It’s been a lot of placing the chess pieces and positioning and introducing key players in this landscape and I think now we get to start really playing the game. The game is afoot, as they say.’”
