‘The Walking Dead’ Is TV’s Most Discussed Show On Social Media

AMC's The Walking Dead devoured the competition on social media, as the series is the hottest TV topic on Facebook and Twitter for the third year in a row.

In spite of some trouble with ratings as viewership has declined, The Walking Dead was far and away the most discussed show this year on social media platforms.

Some Nielsen Ratings statistics released to Daily Mail reveal that the average episode of AMC’s zombie drama attracted upwards of 2 million interactions (2.028M, to be exact) on Facebook and Twitter, making it the most talked-about show on the air for the third year in a row. The measure that Neilsen utilized data taken from three hours before a new episode aired to three hours after it aired, along with when the show actually aired. The other shows in the top 5 didn’t even come close to challenging The Walking Dead‘s social media supremacy as Fox’s Empire (860K interactions), ABC’s The Bachelor (453K interactions), NBC’s This Is Us (436K interactions), and VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta (406K interactions) were all well beneath AMC’s ratings giant. For all of these shows, Facebook is the preferred site used to discuss these programs by a significant margin, especially for The Walking Dead, as Twitter discussions only made a little over 15% of the overall total.

The Walking Dead will return with its eighth season in Autumn 2017.
