‘The Walking Dead’: Frank Darabont Files Second Lawsuit Against AMC

Original The Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont and Creative Artists Agency have filed a second lawsuit against AMC with further claims they have been robbed of tens of millions of dollars in profits.

The new lawsuit hits on many of the same accusations as the original, which Darabont filed in 2013, a $280 million case that’s currently awaiting a judge’s summary judgment decision. Another lawsuit was filed in August by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and producers Gale Ann Hurd, Glen Mazzara, and David Alpert, each claiming that AMC has cheated them out of massive profits, with damages potentially reaching $1 billion.

Darabont and CAA filed the new lawsuit after having an audit conducted of AMC’s accounting records, which allegedly reveals that AMC is reporting just 20 percent revenue from iTunes sales of the show, along with a host of other potential issues, such as an invoice showing only half the amount of a Comic-Con banner worth thousands of dollars.

The Walking Dead is still AMC’s biggest show and the highest-rated drama on cable television. The show has the potential to last for several more seasons, but with three major cases brought against AMC now, there’s no telling just yet what the future has in store.

The Walking Dead returns on Sunday, February 25 at 9:00 pm on AMC.
