‘The Walking Dead’: Scott Gimple Teases Return Of Shane In Season 9

Many fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead were treated to a pleasant surprise when it was announced that Jon Bernthal would be returning for a special guest appearance in season 9.

For those who remember, Shane was killed off from the series in the hands of Rick (Andrew Lincoln).

With the return of Shane on the way, Scott Gimple didn’t reveal anything to concrete, but teased that Shane would have a “heavy” return when fans see him onscreen once again.

Here’s an excerpt from Greg Ausiello:

We tried to get something out of Scott Gimple, chief content officer for all things Dead, but he was still bummed that Jon Bernthal’s “surprise” guest appearance had been spoiled when “photographs came out like a moment after he landed in Georgia.” So all he’d say was that Shane’s appearance involves “some very cool, very heavy stuff.”

It’s unfortunate that photos of Bernthal’s guest appearance as Shane for The Walking Dead surfaced online so early that it spoiled a bit of the surprise. However, fans are guaranteed some very cool and heavy stuff coming from his role.

Since his departure from the hit series, Bernthal has had quite a prolific career both on the big and small screens. Along with numerous film roles, Bernthal has made a killing (haha) as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Marvel’s Netflix universe set within the MCU. A second season for The Punisher is expected to drop in the near future.
