This marks only the second time in history any studio has passed $7 billion, with Disney previously accomplishing this feat with its own industry-record 2016 global gross of $7.6 billion. Disney also announced that the studio’s international box office gross through December 9 is an estimated $4.069 billion, making it their second biggest year yet and the third biggest in industry history.
With an estimated $2.948 billion domestic box office gross through December 9 and Mary Poppins Returns set to debut on December 19, the studio is approaching the $3 billion domestic industry record they set in 2016.
As of now, four of the top eight worldwide releases of 2018 are from The Walt Disney Studios, including the top two global and top three domestic releases.

In addition, Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned $292.9 miof its $1.33B global gross during 2018, while Coco earned $269.2M of its $807M global gross during 2018.
