Warner Bros. & Sony Will Reportedly Sit Out The Super Bowl

According to a recent report by Deadline, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Studios will not participate in the ad spaces for Super Bowl LIII.

If you love football then you probably know that advertisement spaces in the Super Bowl are highly sought after. More than 100 million people around the world see this match year after year and audiences are spiking one after the other. Just for being one of the most watched events on the year, the broadcasting network charges a lot of money for a 30-second space on it. If someone wanted to use this space for Super Bowl LIII, CBS would charge them around $5 million.

Nonetheless, it seems a couple of giants in Hollywood are passing on this opportunity. According to a recent report, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. will not purchase ad space this year in the Super Bowl. We spoke about how Sony may be looking into a different strategy on how they advertise their films this year, and it seems Warner Bros. is following suit.

Even though none of them usually take these spots on the Super Bowl, both of them have an awesome set of films due to release this year. Sony Pictures has Men in Black International, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Zombieland 2, Charlie’s Angels, the Mister Rogers movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women and the Jumanji sequel in the docket. While Warner Bros. has DCEU’s Shazam!, the Ryan Reyndols and Pokémon crossover Detective Pikachu, the latest monster flick Godzilla: King of the Monsters and a new iteration in the Conjuring Universe in Annabelle.

It’s safe to say that these films will be heavily advertised before releasing in the coming weeks, but evidently not in the next Super Bowl. Films like Shazam!, Men in Black: InternationalSpider-Man: Far From Home, Detective Pikachu and Godzilla: King of Monsters have some footage out already but we’ve seen rather few from movies like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Zombieland 2 or the new Annabelle film. It would have been something else to see a trailer or a teaser of those early this year. Alas, we’ll have to wait a little bit more before we get a peek on them before they release later this 2019.

As soon as we get information on all of Sony’s and Warner’s films, we’ll let you know! So stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more!

Super Bowl LIII will feature the Los Angeles Rams against the New England Patriots this Sunday, February 3 on CBS.
