WarnerMedia Sets Late May Launch Date For HBO Max

WarnerMedia has officially announced that the HBO Max streaming service is set to launch on May 27, 2020.

The HBO Max streaming service finally has a lunch date, as WarnerMedia has revealed that it will debut on May 27 of this year with about 10,000 hours of content, including fan-favorite shows such as Friends, The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones. The streaming service was originally announced in October 2018. Priced at $14.99 monthly, it will cost the same as HBO Now.

You can check out the official HBO Max launch trailer right below.

Last week, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams was revealed to be working on an untitled HBO Max drama set in the Justice League Dark universe in addition to two other series, titled Duster and Overlook. The three projects are being developed as part of a deal between Abrams’ production company Bad Robot and the AT&T-owned WarnerMedia.

Other previously-announced projects being developed for WarnerMedia’s HBO Max include a Dune spin-off series centered on an order of women known as the Bene Gesserit, with Blade Runner 2049 helmer Denis Villeneuve directing the pilot episode. Furthermore, HBO Max will include Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, an animated prequel series revealing the origins of the cute but dangerous creatures.

What do you think of the launch trailer? Will you be subscribing to WarnerMedia’s streaming service when it finally launches in late May? Will it be one too many streaming services for you when this one arrives? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section!
