HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ Fails To Earn A Single Golden Globe Nomination

HBO’s critically acclaimed Watchmen TV series failed to earn a single nomination for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards.

The nominations for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning with Joker being the most notable comic book property in awards contention. Another DC property that has been just as critically acclaimed is HBO’s Watchmen. While Watchmen still has one more episode to go, the HBO series was still eligible to compete for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards

For Best Television Series- Drama, Watchmen lost out to Big Little Lies, The Crown, Killing Eve, Morning Show, and Succession. Despite missing out on the Golden Globe Awards, Watchmen did score four nominations at the 25th annual Critics’ Choice Awards and includes Best Drama Series. Watchmen star Regina King, who was also nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series, reacted to the Critics’ Choice nominations in a tweet you can see below.

Here is the official synopsis for HBO’s Watchmen:

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC.

Watchmen airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.

The 75th Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 5th, 2020.
