Aladdin Fans Turn Will Smith’s Blue Genie Into Sonic And It’s Just As Horrible

First Shrek, now Sonic. Aladdin fans are going in on Will Smith this week after Disney revealed the first look at his blue Genie in the upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin.

After revealing Will Smith looking like nothing more than Will Smith in previous marketing materials, Disney surprised fans and finally revealed his blue Genie design for the upcoming film on Sunday night. The reaction has been quite severe for both Will Smith and the mouse house as the actor and the studio have been getting slammed by fans with countless memes and edits making fun of the character’s design.

First Will Smith’s blue Genie was criticized for looking more like a blue version of Shrek than it did a live-action realization of the Genie himself. Now fans are going the extra mile to take it one step further and morph Will Smith into another familiar blue character, Sonic the Hedgehog-based on the character’s design from his upcoming live-action adaptation. You can check it out below.

So what do you think? Do you like Will Smith’s design for the blue Genie? Do you think he would make for a good Sonic? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below!

Guy Ritchie has directed the film from a script written by John August (Big Fish) and Game of Thrones writer Vanessa Taylor. August and Ritchie are also producing the film with Dan Lin. Marc Platt (La La Land) and Chris Montan (Frozen) are consulting for the project with Jonathan Eirich (Deathnote) serving as executive producer.

The cast features Mena Massoud who stars in the titular role of Aladdin, as well as Will Smith as the Genie, Power Rangers star Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Numan Acar (Homeland) as Hakim, the head of the guards and Jafar’s right-hand man, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar. In addition, the live-action remake features new characters made just for the film played by Billy Magnussen (Game Night) and former Saturday Night Live comedienne Nasim Pedrad.

“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

The film is currently slated to hit theaters May 24, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic Aladdin as we learn it.
