2017’s Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, featured the enthralling “No Man’s Land” scene that quickly became the most talked about moment from the entire film. While having a sit-down interview with Variety, Patty Jenkins teased a sequel to the iconic scene that won over the hearts of many moviegoers in next year’s Wonder Woman 1984. Take a look at what the director had to say about the scene down below.
“I have a scene that’s in this movie that is totally different but it’s my ‘No Man’s Land’ scene. It’s like there’s one scene that I am so excited about and you have all those different things. It won’t be the same scene, but there are some moments I’m really excited about.”
Stephen Spielberg had his breath-taking E.T. flying across the moon scene and then followed it up with the tremendous D-Day feat in Saving Private Ryan. Jenkins is giving it her all in next year’s Wonder Woman 1984 and went on to talk about her personal life growing up in the 80’s.
“We’re treating the era differently than I’ve seen so far, which I feel like there have a lot of interesting versions of doing the era. In our version, as a child of the ‘8os myself, yes there was funny, ha-ha outfits I can’t believe I wore, for sure. But there’s also incredible music, incredible art.
And so I really felt like the 1980s is mankind at their most extreme and at their best. It was when we could do anything we wanted and we had no idea of the price yet. So we have really committed to that version of the ’80s, where it’s not needle drops, and it’s not a bunch of jokes. It’s actually the most aspirational and elegant version of the ’80s in many places.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how Patty Jenkinz tops the “No Man’s Land” sequence in Wonder Woman 1984 and sequels like The Dark Knight and Captain America: The Winter Soldier have shown fans that it’s possible for a sequel to enhance the first film, instead of many sequels throughout the years that have failed to achieve the excitement of its predecessor.
