‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Director Patty Jenkins On Why She Won’t Reveal Third Film’s Setting

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins reveals that she doesn’t want to reveal the time setting of the third film due to spoilers.

After the first film took audiences to 1918, director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 will transport movigoers to the ’80s. However, while the long-awaited Wonder Woman sequel is still roughly four months away from hitting theaters, some fans are already speculating on the time setting of the third film.

Of course, Patty Jenkins would be the ideal person to get the answers from, but it appears she is unwilling to reveal the time setting of the next Wonder Woman film for the time being. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Patty Jenkins indicated she doesn’t want to reveal the setting of the third film as it may spoil details on how the events of Wonder Woman 1984:

“I’m the only person who can’t answer because I’m likely going to have to choose, so, spoilers.”

However, Patty Jenkins did note that there is no shortage of decades to choose from, saying, “there are lots of great eras.”

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in theaters on June 4, 2020.
