On Friday, the superhero film made an estimated $10.85 million domestically and is expected to finish out its third weekend with $40 million, pushing its domestic total up to $274.5 million. It will drop 30% in its third weekend, but that’s not a bad number in terms of drops in comparison to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Dark Knight in their respective third weekends.
If Wonder Woman hits the $700 million mark, it’s looking at a higher finish than Man of Steel, which finished its theater run with $668 million worldwide. However, Wonder Woman might still make lessthan last year’s Suicide Squad, which brought in a total global amount of $745 million and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s $845 million worldwide number.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
The film stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief.
Wonder Woman is currently playing in theaters.
