‘Wonder Woman’: Charlize Theron Turned Down A Role In The DCEU Film

It’s still kind of hard to believe that Wonder Woman is only director Patty Jenkins’ second feature film. It also seems insane that her previous film, Monster, came out over 14 years ago. Going into Wonder Woman, many fans were wondering if the director’s Monster star Charlize Theron, who Jenkins directed to a Academy Award-winning performance in the 2003 film, would be featured in the DCEU superhero movie.

During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, when the talk show host mistakenly thought that Theron had re-teamed with Jenkins for Wonder Woman (Stern quickly realized that he was actually thinking of Robin Wright), the actress revealed that Jenkins did actually offer her a role in the film, but she had to decline. Here is what Theron said:

“No, I’m not in Wonder Woman. We’re friends. I think the world of her. We have a mutual respect for each other. She did come to me, and at the time I was either working on something or I don’t know. There was a reason I couldn’t do it.”

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock. Here is the official synopsis for the film:
