‘Wonder Woman’ Director Makes TIME’s Person Of The Year Shortlist

TIME Magazine's Person of the Year award has a chance at going toward Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, as she made the shortlist.

It’s not often when someone in the movie industry is considered to be the most influential individual of a given year, but TIME Magazine says that 2017 is a year that should embrace this kind of change. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has managed to make her way to their Person of the Year shortlist.

Jenkins has been recognized for her work on Wonder Woman by TIME as a contender for the Person of the Year award – with the other nominations including the likes of the women of the #MeToo movement, Jeff Bezos, Colin Kaepernick, and Robert Mueller. Jenkins issued a quick statement on Twitter to express her gratitude:

There are a handful of reasons for her status as a contender on this list – one of which being that the film is the most expensive movie handed to a female director and another being that its success paves the way for women to have a greater role in Hollywood. Considering that this comes at a time when sexual abuse scandals in the industry are becoming more and more rampant, Jenkins seems to be set to become a voice for women who are trying to break out the film industry.

Wonder Woman is now available on home video. Its cast includes Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Isabel Maru (Doctor Poison), and Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff.

Wonder Woman 2 is in development with a tentative release date of November 1, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the highly anticipated sequel as we learn it.
