When we first meet Chief, he and Diana share a fascinating conversation by the campfire. While Diana learns about Chief’s past, they both speak to each other in a Native American language. Interestingly enough, that part of the conversation did not feature subtitles.
This conversation sparked a fan theory online about Chief. Some fans have speculated that the film hints that Chief may be a demi-god just like Diana.
Reporter Beth Elderkin tweeted to Brave Rock, asking him to confirm whether or not Chief is a demi-god. Brave Rock confirmed this theory to her:
Unfortunately, Chief’s status as a demi-god was not explored in-depth in Wonder Woman. But perhaps Patty Jenkins and company can further explore that element about his character in the sequel. Hopefully, Brave Rock could reprise his role and we can continue to see him in more adventures with Diana.
Here’s the synopsis for Wonder Woman:
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Wonder Woman is in theaters now.
