Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine explain the film's message. The fourth DCEU film hits theaters June 2nd, 2017.
In the film, there is a line where Steve Trevor tells Diana that “Not all people are all good.” In a recent interview with ScreenRant, the film’s stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine were asked to explain why that is the film’s message:
Chris Pine: “Yeah. 100%. I mean that was…”
Gal Gadot: “The whole idea.”
Chris Pine: “I love that scene because it’s trying to explain to someone why we fight wars. It’s like when you think about it, it’s a great question. Why do we kill one another? And in that statement I think is both what is great and awful about being a human being, which is you can succumb to the worst parts of yourself and lose hope and become violent, nihilistic, and just kind of follow that path or you can work against that and try your damnedest to do your part for the betterment of the world and it’s hard and messy and ugly and none of us are perfect, but you can try and I think that is the message. Yeah.”
Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock. Here is the official synopsis for the film:
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers… and her true destiny.
