‘Wonder Woman’ Star Gal Gadot Nearly Played Furiosa In ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

'Wonder Woman' star Gal Gadot reveals that she was a contender for the role of Furiosa in George Miller's 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.

Wonder Woman opened to critical acclaim and continued to experience record-breaking box office success throughout the summer, arguably making the character and actress Gal Gadot the most popular member of the DC Extended Universe family. However, Gadot recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she was also considered for the equally revered part of Furiosa in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

While discussing her early difficulties with landing roles in Hollywood, Gal Gadot revealed that she was a contender for the part of Furiosa before Charlize Theron landed the role:

“I had so many almosts for big, great things, but I was never big enough of a name. It was always me and ‘the big name.'”

Though few would deny that Gal Gadot could have easily handled the role of Furiosa, Theron’s performance received universal acclaim and most would find it difficult to imagine anyone else portraying the character. Thankfully Gadot did not give up on her ambitions and later auditioned for a mysterious role that turned out to be Wonder Woman for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one week before what she expected might be her final departure from Hollywood.

Gal Gadot will return as Wonder Woman when Justice Leauge arrives in theaters this fall:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.
