Gal Gadot Voices Support For Sri Lankan ‘Wonder Woman’ Cosplayers

Wonder Woman took the world by storm this summer, becoming a major financial success as well as critical hit. That has led to many seeing the character as a rallying cry, taking to conventions all over the world dressed as the Amazonian warrior to show their support. That group included two college students in Sri Lanka, who while being dressed as their favorite character received some backlash followed by an outpour of support, including some from Gal Gadot herself.

Amaya Suriyapperuma and Seshani Cooray dressed as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman at Sri Lanka’s Lanka Comic Con, just to find out they were being mocked online, some saying they were too small to helm the DC heroine’s armor. What came next was support from far and wide. 

With over 40 thousand retweets, the tweet got the attention of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot. She responded with her own tweet letting the girls know she was in their corner.

The film stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief.
