ComicBook.com is reporting that Wonder Woman has just become the highest-grossing standalone superhero movie ever. Prior to the release of Wonder Woman, there were three standalone Marvel movies that stood at the top of Brazil’s market – Iron Man 3 (R$96M), Logan (R$91M), and Deadpool (R$81M).
The movie’s incredible performance in the region shouldn’t be too surprising, considering that both Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were massive hits in the region at $37.6M USD and $36.6M USD respectively. As it stands, Wonder Woman currently sits at $720M worldwide, which puts it in a position to clear Suicide Squad‘s total international run ($745.6M USD) and get closer to the numbers that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice had ($873.3M USD).
Wonder Woman is playing in theaters. Its cast includes Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Isabel Maru (Doctor Poison), and Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff.
