‘Wonder Woman’ Hits $300M Worldwide

The DCEU's first female-led installment, Wonder Woman, has officially grossed over $300 million at the global box office.

The DCEU’s first female-led installment, Wonder Woman, has officially hit $300 million at the global box office.

As of yesterday, the worldwide gross was a total of $283 million but Time Warner Inc. has confirmed that the Princess of Themyscira has officially taken north of $300 million worldwide.

Wonder Woman saw a domestic opening weekend of $103.1 million in which director Patty Jenkins became the record holder for the highest opening weekend for a female director of all time in the United States but the film has now become one of the highest-grossing female directed films of all time surpassing Pitch Perfect 2 ($288 million), but short of Twilight ($391 million), Fifty Shades of Grey ($571 million), Mamma Mia! ($609 million) and Kung Fu Panda 2 ($665 million).

Domestically the film stood as of yesterday at $138.7 million amongst some of the top grossing female directed films behind Mama Mia! ($144 million), Fifty Shades of Grey ($166 million), Kung Fu Panda 2 ($165 million), Pitch Perfect 2 ($184 million), Twilight ($191 million) and after this weekend will most likely rank much higher.

The film stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief. ’Wonder Woman’ hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
