‘Wonder Woman’: Patty Jenkins On The One Scene That Had To Be Reshot

'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins discusses the one scene that had to be reshot and why the additional material was required.

Wonder Woman debuted to box office success and critical acclaim, with many audiences praising out the now iconic No Man’s Land sequence where Diana takes her first big stand. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Patty Jenkins revealed that while no major reshoots were required, there was one scene that needed a relatively minor adjustment.

Jenkins explained why the build up to the No Man’s Land scene required some additional material.

“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it. That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.”

Jenkins added that the reshot scene was a just a minor adjustment.

“We replaced that one scene with a reshot scene, and we didn’t change the order of a single scene. So what you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making.”

What did you think of the scene? Did it succeed in building up tension and reaffirming the brutality of war? Share your thoughts below!

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers… and her true destiny.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui.

Wonder Woman is now playing in theaters!
