First Reaction To ‘Wonder Woman’ Likens The Film To ‘Captain America’

Exhibitors were treated to an early screening of Wonder Woman today and the first reaction is in.

President of Theatre Management Associates, LLC John Shaw likened the film to Captain America: The First Avenger as he described it as both entertaining and exciting with great effects and characters. You can read the tweet below.

The film set during World War I follows Diana Prince (Gadot) after Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), an air force officer crash lands on the island of Themyscira — the home of the Amazons — and informs them of the great war going on in the outside world. Diana finds herself compelled to enter the conflict as she believes can help bring an end to the war.

Wonder Woman itself is incredibly important for both Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Not only will the film determine the future of female-led superhero films as well as female directors in Hollywood, it will inspire young women for generations to come but the film is also going to have to reach a male audience as well in order for it to be the financial success it needs to be. A positive response from critics wouldn’t hurt either.

The film stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief. ’Wonder Woman’ hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior.
