Not only did Wonder Woman dominate the summer box office, it was also the talk of social media as the most tweeted about summer film on Twitter.
The data, which measured mentions on Twitter between May and August, has the Amazonian princess ahead of other films that were highly anticipated such as Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, Spider-man: Homecoming and even Warner Brothers’ own Justice League. Here are the top five most tweeted about films according to Twitter:
In the weeks leading up to the film’s release, Wonder Woman was generating waves of positive buzz. According to a recent report, during its first week there were more than 2.19 million Wonder Woman tweets sent out. As news spread, the talk and tweets just exploded.
It’s now clear as the summer progressed, a cross-section of moviegoers were excited to see the first female-led comic book movie once it was confirmed Wonder Woman lived up to its name. The film became a reason to celebrate and of course these days, much of that takes place on social media.
Wonder Woman is now available on Digital HD and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD September 19.
