The working title for Fox's X-Men: New Mutants has been revealed to be Growing Pains. The film is directed by Josh Boone and hits theaters April 13th, 2018.
According to Production Weekly, the working title for New Mutants has been revealed to be Growing Pains. This title seems appropriate for the film, which will introduce a whole slew of new young, up-and-coming mutant characters, such as Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Sunspot and Magik, who is actually Colossus’ little sister in the comics (but who’s related in the comics doesn’t always mean much for the Fox X-Men films; see: Nightcrawler and Mystique). The group will team up to face Demon Bear, who we got our first look at when the creature appeared in concept art and animatics late last year. And yes, Demon Bear looks just as insane/awesome as he sounds.
We still don’t know anything official yet about casting for the film. Rumors have suggested that Games of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams may be playing Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, while Nat Wolff (Netflix’s upcoming Deathnote) could be re-teaming with his The Fault in our Stars director to play Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, and Split star Anya Taylor-Joy’s name has come up for Illyana Rasputin/Magik. It has also been rumored that James McAvoy may return as Professor Charles Xavier, that the film might also see the return of Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Monroe/Storm.
