‘X-Men’ & ‘Batman’ Inker Victor Llamas Passes Away At 41

Victor Llamas, a comic book inker known for his work on comics like X-Men, Batman, The Darkness, Witchblade, and Star Wars: Republic, has died.

Another comic book illustrator has passed on today, as Victor Llamas (X-Men, Batman) is no longer with us.

Newsarama reports that Llamas passed away on December 22, 2017 following undisclosed medical complications, having spent a while at the hospital to treat his condition previously. He was 41 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Amy and three children — Alex, Chase, and Emily. A GoFundMe page that allows donations to his family to cover his medical expenses can be visited here, with the initial $5,000 goal surpassed.

Llamas is best known for his work on Marvel’s X-Men and DC’s Batman, and contributed to a number of other series including WolverineTitansSupergirlSuperman/Batman, Wraithborn, Star Wars: RepublicG. I. Joe, and the crossover Star Trek/X-Men. In addition, Llamas was heavily involved with the Top Cow Productions label, which worked frequently with Image Comics; Llamas’ work there can be seen in The Darkness, WitchbladeArcanumAphrodite IX, and Medieval Spawn/Witchblade. His most recent work was with WildStorm’s Wraithborn Redux.

It’s always upsetting to see talented comic book contributors pass away, but his death at a relatively young age is particularly saddening. Victor Llamas will be missed.
