In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘s star Sophie Turner and Game Of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams talked about growing up in the middle of the massive HBO series. After talking about how their lives were during the show, the interview got even more personal with the young actresses. When asked about her engagement with Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner answered candidly that she thought she found the right person and that she’s experienced everything she’s had to; with both guys and girls:
“I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life. I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know. I feel like I’m much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I’ve lived enough life to know. I’ve met enough guys to know — I’ve met enough girls to know. I don’t feel 22. I feel like 27, 28.”
Sophie Turner was asked to explain the “girls” part of the comment, igniting the internet on fire in the process:
“Everyone experiments. It’s part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender.”
It seems that several people took these remarks to social media to claim this was Sophie Turner’s coming out. Check out some tweets:
However, other fans did not see it that way, but rather that what Sophie Turner meant was that she experimented at some point in her life and that she wouldn’t want to label her sexuality calling herself straight, bisexual or gay. Some people tweeted in this regard:

We’ll get to see Sophie Turner again as Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Here the plot synopsis for it:
“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”
