After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, the X-Men film series fell under the control of the House of Mouse. However, while a majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films were included with the launch of Disney Plus, the live-action X-Men films have not yet been made available on the streaming service.
Now, Disney Plus has added X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse in Canada. Notably absent from Disney Plus is the most recent entry in the X-Men film series, Dark Phoenix, and the R-rated films Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan.
While Dark Phoenix will probably be added at a later date, Disney Plus’ family-friendly library makes it seem unlike that the R-rated X-Men films will ever be added. Meanwhile, U.S. Disney Plus subscribers will have to make do with a few of the animated X-Men projects for now.
Marvel Studios confirmed plans to include the X-Men mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con panel. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn exactly what Marvel Studios has planned for the team.
