But who is the Netflix star playing in the sequel?
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has added a young up-and-coming star from Netflix’s The Babysitter’s Club, Xochitl Gomez in a mysterious role for the sequel. In recent news, Cumberbatch will shoot his scenes for Spider-Man 3 before he starts work on his second solo film as the Sorcerer Supreme. But after Deadline announced the news that Gomez has joined the sequel, fans had one incredible idea as to who she’ll play.
Fans on Twitter praised the casting and many theorized that Xochitl Gomez will play America Chavez in the Benedict Cumberbatch sequel. For those not familiar with Chavez, alongside the usual flight and super-strength abilities, she can punch holes in between realities which lets her travel across the multiverse. Given the film will heavily deal with alternate universes and magic, it seems like a fair assumption that Xochitl Gomez could wind up bring the hero to the big screen. And with the recent casting of Ms. Marvel, America Chavez’s inclusion could signify that the Young Avengers are on the horizon.
