Yoda Voice Actor Refuses To Say If He Is In ‘The Last Jedi’

 Even if you don’t recognize the name, Frank Oz is probably a huge part of your child hood, regardless of whether you’re 50, 20, or 10. Frank Oz is the voice (and puppeteer) of Yoda in the original Star Wars films, the prequels, and now even in the Rebels animated show. If you can remember correctly, Oz even had a very small role in The Force Awakens along with Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi). Both actors provided a brief voice-over for when Rey is first given Luke’s old lightsaber.

Somewhat unexpectedly, in an interview with Variety, when asked about rumors of Yoda’s return in Episode VIII, Frank Oz responded with this:

“I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me.”

By not saying anything, Frank Oz actually said a lot. It’s very possible that Oz is simply doing more voice-over for a similar scene to the one from The Force Awakens. However, it is exciting to think about Yoda coming back as a force ghost in a few scenes. Perhaps Ewan McGregor can make that happen too! Either way, it is pretty cool that there is a possibility of Yoda coming back once more.
