There’s only a couple months left until Captain Marvel and huge news has been released about what exactly we can expect from Marvel’s first female-led movie. Of course, there are still many mysteries being kept under wraps by Marvel Studios, one of them being who exactly Jude Law’s character is. The actor was originally said to be playing Mar-Vell, but it’s been rumored that he’s actually Yon-Rogg. In an interview with ScreenRant, producer Jonathan Schwartz was asked if Yon-Rogg will make an appearance in the upcoming movie. Here’s what he told the site:
“Yon-Rogg does pop up, yeah. He’s an important part of the mythology.”
Although after that he didn’t have much to say about the character or who was playing him, fans can now possibly theorize what they can expect from the movie. It could still be Law, but there’s also the chance it’s an unlisted actor they’re trying to keep as a surprise for the movie. Yon-Rogg is a Kree villain and an integral part to the origins of Carol Danvers, contributing to how she gets her powers. Whether the role is minor or major, we can expect to see the villain to appear.
Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
