‘Young Justice: Outsiders’ Expands Universe With Surprising Batman Sidekick

With the latest season of Young Justice: Outsiders now in full swing, we are seeing more fan-favorite heroes being added to the ever-expanding scope of the storyline! Yes, so far some have only been teased or hinted at, but still, this should definitely get fans excited. The latest hero-tease includes none other than a member of the Bat-family, Harper Row, AKA Bluebird! Harper Row was created by the team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo and first appeared in Batman vol. 2, #7.

In the recent episode titled “Another Freak,” we see Young Justice heroes, Halo and Forager, who are sporting a new look thanks to Zatanna, attend their first day of high school at Happy Harbor High. As you can imagine the first day at a new school can be tough for any teen, let alone two young heroes trying to adapt to ‘normal life’. Yet it doesn’t go so bad for the two heroes as they actually strike up a friendship on their first day of school.

Who’s the new friend? You guessed it, none other than Harper Row. For anyone trying to piece together why the name rings familiar, Harper Row is actually one of Batman’s sidekicks and instead of taking the mantle of Robin, decided to forge her brand new superhero identity as Bluebird. It’s exciting to see more young heroes introduced in Young Justice: Outsiders and although Row hasn’t shown any signs of taking the mantle of Bluebird as of yet in the show, we can only hope as her character develops that her story arc leads down the heroic path and she ultimately joins the Young Justice: Outsiders team.

Young Justice: Outsiders features voice work from Jesse McCartney, Nolan North, Stephanie Lemelin, Jason Spisak, Zehra Fazal, Troy Baker, Khary Payton, Alyson Stoner, Jason Marsden, Vanessa Marshall, Marina Sirtis, Mark Rolston, Kelly Hu, and Bruce Greenwood.

“From Warner Bros. Animation, Young Justice: Outsiders features the return of the fan favorite animated series with a huge cast of DC’s most iconic young super heroes – plus brand-new characters, many of whom are just discovering their unique meta-powers and special abilities. Set against the backdrop of a rich, deep world that touches all corners of the DC universe, our heroes will face the new threat of metahuman-trafficking, and an intergalactic arms race for control of these super-powered youths.”

Young Justice: Outsiders is currently available on the DC Universe streaming service.
