Zachary Levi Marks Anniversary Of ‘Shazam!’ Move With Emotional Message

Zachary Levi posted an emotional message on his Instagram page to mark the anniversary of moving to Toronto to work on Shazam! for DC Films.

Zachary Levi’s Shazam! was an instant hit with audiences across the world, but the star recently posted an emotional Instagram post to mark the anniversary of moving to Toronto to start work on the film. Shazam! star Zachary Levi revealed that he originally struggled with his mental health and didn’t believe he was the right person for the role when the first audition came around. Zachary Levi admitted that he actually turned down the initial audition for the Shazam! movie, explaining that he didn’t feel worthy.

Thankfully, the Shazam! star explained that he went to therapy and eventually managed to see his own self-worth, eventually winning the lead role. Shazam! star Zachary Levi thanked a number of people in the post, including director David F. Sandberg and everyone at DC Films for giving him the chance to wear the cape. He also thanked legendary artist Jim Lee for the incredible artwork the Shazam! star posted online. Take a look at Zachary Levi’s emotional post below.

Here is the synopsis for Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
