Zachary Levi Has Perfect Response To Fans Pitting’ Shazam!’ Against ‘Captain Marvel’

Zachary Levi believes audiences do not have to hate Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel in order to enjoy the Shazam! movie.

Shazam! star Zachary Levi has been quite vocal about the “rivalry” between DC and Marvel. Sure, the two companies fought for the name of Captain Marvel, but that was a long time ago. There are fans on the other hand that still believe there should only be one Captain Marvel, but others and comic book film stars have expressed how there truly is no rivalry between DC and Marvel. Recently, Shazam! star Zachary Levi had more to say on the matter, explaining how you do not need to hate Brie Larson or Captain Marvel to enjoy the Shazam! movie. The actor also had nothing but respect for both properties and Brie Larson. Here are Zachary Levi’s thoughts on the “rivalry” and hate Brie Larson has received:

“It came to my attention, what was going on, because I was on Twitter or something. And I was getting added by people that were saying what was very clearly fictitious, defaming things about Brie and about Captain Marvel. I’m not affiliated with anything; I’ve known Brie over the years and I think she’s delightful and talented. By the way she doesn’t need anybody sticking up for her. I was trying to talk to people who thought they were doing me a favor. They were like ‘We’re not gonna see that, we’re gonna see Shazam!’. You can just say you want to see Shazam!. You don’t have to go and speak ill of someone else in order to raise me or this movie up.”

Zachary Levi’s Shazam! has been garnering much praise for its fresh take on the iconic superhero. Early reactions have been so positive that Warner Bros. partnered with Fandango to screen the movie two weeks before its release. . In the end, actors simply seem to want to help produce great comic book films that can inspire people around the world. With more representation and attention to present issues, comic book films have evolved and become more inclusive and both Shazam! and Captain Marvel prove to be a great example of this.

What do you think of Zachary Levi’s comments? Do you enjoy both DC and Marvel films? What are your thoughts on Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel? Let us know in the comments!

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
