Zachary Levi is gearing up for production on the upcoming DC standalone film, Shazam!, for which he stars in as the titular superhero.
Levi arrived in Toronto earlier this month where principal photography will commence soon. According to documentary filmmaker Bryce Wagoner, the actor has gotten “freaking jacked” for the upcoming role. Wagoner spotted Levi at fan screening for Star Wars: The Last Jedi in which he noticed how much muscle he has managed to gain for the role. The actor’s bulkier figure could be clearly seen at The Game Awards in Los Angeles last month.
You can check out Wagoner’s tweet below which was in response to the announcement of the film’s release date earlier today.
David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) is directing from a script written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. The film is being produced by New Line Cinema in conjunction with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. Shazam is a DC Comics character who first debuted in 1939 with the original name of Captain Marvel. Created by C.C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, the character was first published by Fawcett Comics.
The film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freedman, Cooper Andrews, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen as Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro, and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana.
Shazam! is slated to hit theaters April 5, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Shazam! and the future of DC Films as we learn it.
