‘Shazam!’ Concept Art Reveals New 52-Inspired Suit Design For Zachary Levi

New concept art from the Shazam! movie has surfaced online, giving fans a look at an alternate suit design for Zachary Levi.

Earlier this month, Shazam! costume concept artist Jerad S.Marantz revealed some of his work for the Tawky Tawny homage featured on the clasps holding the titular hero’s cape. Now, Marantz has shared an alternate suit design for Zachary Levi’s Shazam, inspired by the character’s New 52 look.

As Marantz explains on the description of his Instagram post, the alternate suit design is heavily influenced by Shazam’s look in the New 52 comic books, but it also includes elements from his design for the DC Universe animated movie Justice League: War. You can check out the artwork below.

What do you guys think of the artwork? Do you like this early suit design for Zachary Levi’s Shazam or do you prefer the final product? Let us know in the comments section!

Henry Gayden is currently writing a Shazam! sequel, with David F. Sandberg expected to return to the director’s chair. In the meantime, Zachary Levi’s Shazam! is available on all home media formats. Here’s the official synopsis:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Stay tuned for the latest news on Zachary Levi’s Shazam and the future of the DC Extended Universe.
