Zachary Levi’s ‘Shazam!’ Lands With One Of The Highest CinemaScores For The DCEU

Zachary Levi’s Shazam! hits a very important milestone for the DCEU as it becomes its second film with an “A” CinemaScore rating after Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Zachary Levi’s Shazam! just hit theaters yesterday and audiences are already branding it as a huge hit for DC and Warner Bros. Shazam! recently landed an “A” CinemaScore for the DCEU, becoming the second film ever in this cinematic universe to get such an accolade after Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Zachary Levi’s first outing as the former Captain Marvel earned a higher rating than Man Of Steel (A-), Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (B), Justice League (B+) and even the wildly successful Aquaman (A-).

The truth is that even before its worldwide release, Zachary Levi’s Shazam! was already a huge hit amongst critics. Heroic Hollywood’s Nick Kazden called Zachary Levi’s Shazam! “…delightful and charming from start to finish.” while other critics agreed with him calling it out as a heartfelt but electrifying film for the DCEU. It seems that Zachary Levi’s Shazam! continues to pave the way for more epic films from the DCEU, as they might have finally found the right formula for success after Wonder Woman or Aquaman.

How do you think Zachary Levi’s Shazam! will impact the future of the DCEU? Sound off in the comment section down below!

Following Aquaman, which is now playing, the DCEU continues with Zachary Levi’s Shazam! on April 5, 2019, which will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.

Here is the synopsis for DC’s next film, Zachary Levi’s Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, DC Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas.

Zachary Levi’s Shazam! is in theaters now. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the current DC cinematic universe as we learn it.
