Zachary Levi Teases More Of The ‘Shazam!’ Family In Sequel

Zachary Levi has teased that the upcoming sequel will feature more of the Shazam family that was established at the end of the first film.

Development on a Shazam! sequel with Zachary Levi is underway and the film currently has an April 2022 release date. Not much else is known about the upcoming sequel, but it’s expected that the the film will feature more of the Shazam family after they were introduced in the third act of the first film.

It also seems like Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is being saved for the third Shazam! film since the mid-credits scene set up Mister Mind. When asked about Shazam! 2 at Celebrity Preview Fan Fest back in October, Zachary Levi did let a few little details slip about the highly-anticipated sequel:

“You can expect a lot of the same awesomeness that you got in the first one. I think one thing I can probably say, that I don’t think is any kind of a spoiler: now that the Shazamily has been established … now that that’s kind of a thing now, I think we can expect a little bit more of that. I hope so. We’ve got our own little like Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers team, that’s pretty dope. We just need a pink one. That could be in there.”

What do you hope to see in the Shazam! sequel? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!

Here is the synopsis for the Zachary Levi-led Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
