One of the most impressive elements of Zachary Levi’s Shazam! was his practical costume and digital artist Jerad S. Marantz revealed some concept art he created that ended up in the final version of the suit. After recently sharing an alternate design for Zachary Levi’s boots, the artist revealed his initial version of the hero’s gauntlets once Asher Angel’s Billy Batson transformed into his super-powered alter-ego.
The design is almost exactly the same as the ones Zachary Levi wears in Shazam! but Marantz noted that once he’d finished the designs, the visual effects teams added lights into them to match the lit-up lightning bolt on the hero’s chest. The artist also mentioned that he’s pleased with how these turned out and considering how well they translated to the screen, it’s hard not agree with him. Take a look at the Shazam! concept art below.

Here is the official synopsis for Zachary Levi’s Shazam!:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
