Zack Snyder: ‘Batman v Superman’ Poster Inspired By ‘Seven Samurai’

Since the divisive release of Justice League, director Zack Snyder has been sharing images online that capture his style of work, most recently a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice poster that is in reference to another film.

In this new poster shared by Zack Snyder, fans can see Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Henry Cavill as Superman standing side by side staring towards the same way. This poster was not released before the release of Batman v Superman, but it does share the same style of the posters that were out at the time. The poster seems to be inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and Zack Snyder recently confirmed this.

On Vero, Zack Snyder confirmed to a fan that the poster is in reference to Seven Samurai, a story about seven ronin who are hired by a village of farmers to defend them from bandits. In Batman v Superman, we had DC’s trinity come together to defeat the threat of Doomsday when other heroes could not defeat it alone. This theme can also be seen present in Justice League.
