After losing his daughter to suicide, Zack Snyder left Justice League during the post-production phase and Warner Bros. began making significant changes to the film, with Joss Whedon overseeing reshoots and the new direction. While we will never see Zack Snyder’s original plan for Justice League and the sequel, filmmaker Kevin Smith provided information on what Snyder initially envisioned that he learned from individuals who worked on the film and saw Jim Lee’s breakdown boards for three films.
According to Kevin Smith, Justice League would have concluded with a boom tube opening up and Darkseid revealing himself to the titular team. The sequel would have followed the team of heroes venturing to Apokolips and involved the Green Lantern Corps, with a source claiming green lights were projected on Jeremy Irons during the famous deleted Justice League scene (in which Alfred meets with a mysterious individual in the Batcave) to indicate he was speaking with a Green Lantern.
Kevin Smith then revealed the second Justice League film would have concluded with Darkseid defeating our heroes and making his way to earth, setting up a third film by making the Knightmare sequence a reality. The third Justice League movie would picked up where the second film left off as the heroes made one last stand against Darkseid.
