Zack Snyder Reveals Original ‘Justice League’ Plans With Darkseid & Deleted Post-Credits Scene

During a Q&A session with fans at a screening of Batman v Superman, Zack Snyder discussed details on his original plan for Justice League and the villain Darkseid.

Justice League was released over a year ago, but fans still can’t get over what Zack Snyder’s original vision for the film could have been before he exited the project and Joss Whedon oversaw extensive reshoots. However, after revealing he did not even shoot his original plan for Justice League due to the studio’s concern that the idea was “crazy,” Zack Snyder offered candid details on what he originally planned for the film and how Darkseid factored into his vision:

“The truth is that, the Knightmare sequence in this movie was always my idea that all of that would eventually be explained … and that we would end up in the distance future, where Darkseid has taken over Earth and where Superman has succumbed to the Anti-Life [Equation] … There was a few members of the Justice League that had survived in that world, that they were fighting. Batman broke a pact with Cyborg because something happened… They were working on an equation to jump Flash back to tell Bruce…”

Zack Snyder also revealed a deleted post-credit scene in which Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman discuss the message he received from The Flash in Batman v Superman:

“The Justice League teaser that wasn’t in the movie, apparently, I guess, where Wonder Woman says, it’s this line where Bruce says ‘I was right here when Barry Allen came to me and he said Lois Lane is the key,’ and she says ‘She is, to Superman. Every heart has one.’ And he goes, ‘I think it’s something more, something darker.'”

Lois Lane’s death would have resulted in Superman succumbing the Anti-Life Equation, Zack Snyder explained:

“If Superman knew that somehow it was Bruce’s responsibility to protect Lois, he would have been mad at him in [Batman v Superman]. So that’s why he says ‘She was my world, and you took her from me.'”

Zack Snyder then explained that The Flash would have been sent back in time by Cyborg, consequently changing the original plan from what audiences saw in Batman v Superman. Barry Allen would instead attempt to prevent Darkseid from murdering Lois Lane, with the villain having just Boom Tubed into the Batcave. According to Snyder, the studio was on board with his overall Darkseid story, but the details on how and why his version of the team splits up concerned them, especially following the reception towards Batman v Superman.
