‘Justice League’ Concept Footage Shows Off Zack Snyder’s Steppenwolf

Newly-surfaced concept footage from Justice League reveals one of Zack Snyder’s original designs for the villainous Steppenwolf.

Fans have recently learnt a lot more about Zack Snyder’s original plans for Justice League and the DC Extended Universe, but it seems like Steppenwolf had a much different look before The Avengers director Joss Whedon was tapped to finish the film following Snyder’s exit from the project. Justice League saw Ciarán Hinds’ Steppenwolf hunting the Mother Boxes across the planet while Batman and Wonder Woman assembled a team to try to stop him. If this footage is to be believed, then Snyder had something much more frightening in store for fans.

It appears that Zack Snyder’s Steppenwolf was more of a monstrosity compared to the final version of the DC villain if this Instagram post is to be believed. It shows a scarier design for Steppenwolf’s head, with the villain having a glowing set of red eyes. His armor is a lot more frightening as well, with spikes protruding from all over his body, something that probably would’ve made the fight a little more difficult for the Justice League heroes. You can see Snyder’s version of Steppenwolf from Justice League below.

Would you have preferred this take on Steppenwolf or do you like the theatrical version more? Let us know your thoughts on this Steppenwolf design in the comments!

Here’s the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
